Garden Exhiliration

I feel there are times in your life when something happens that afterwards you say "that just felt right".

I say this because this weekend I was able to have my very own experience mirroring that very feeling. It came at around 2:00 p.m. on Sunday as I was picking green beens out of a garden at my girfriends parents house.

Now I have always been the sort to enjoy the outdoors, I started a Green Committee at work, and have in theory always said I wanted to garden. However after actually taking food out of a garden and learning great deal in the process (thanks to my gf's aunt) I can say with certainty that eco-friendly gardening is in my future for sure.

I don't know that to many events to this point in my life have sent so clear a message as picking those vegetables from the earth sent to me. The idea of self sufficiency has always been my goal, but creating your own source of food, removing yourself from the dependency of the grocer..now that just felt good.

Recently I have begun to feel as though I am getting a real passion in life for recylcing, reuse, and sustainability. In every area. The idea of being effecient, and non-dependent becomes more appealing daily as I see the rest of the world crumble. Look for more posts to come, and take my advice. Get in the garden and feel your own roots grow.

Do something extraordinary today

I find myself constantly in the struggle of waiting for a point in life when I can pursue all of the ideas and goals I have. For example, I want a dog, I want to plant a garden, I want to have a convertable.

All of these things have taken a backseat to the idea that I need to wait until I have space for a dog, time for a garden, money for a convertable. It got me thinking about how everything in life seems to have to wait until later on in it.

It was this line of thinking that brought me to the idea of doing something extraordinary. I am working on not just reading about other peoples amazing endeveours but coming up with some of my own.

Check back soon for more details.

Average Wage for 23 Year Old With a College Degree

It came upon me the other day to really think about the value of the college degree I have and what it really nets me in terms of salary.

It made me curious what other 23 year old workers with college degrees made around not only Wisconsin, but the country as well.

If you are around 22-25, feel free to post what your position is, where you are located and the amount you expect to make in 2009.

Hopefully this can be an interesting piece of information for all of us who are curious about where they stand in this economy with the pay and jobs they hold.

Thanks!
